It's a BOY!!

On Friday, June 10th, Chris & I went to our weekly OB appt, at which time we discovered that Baby Wolfe had not progressed at all. Dr. McKenzie told us not to expect a baby this weekend and to return to the office on Thursday. If labor hadn't started by then he would start some testing and discuss induction. Chris & I had been praying the entire pregnancy that we would not have to be induced and believed the Lord would start the process when the baby was ready, so we kept praying after that doctor's appointment.

Well, Saturday night, June 11th, around 11pm, contractions started. However, it wasn't until 3pm on Sunday that they were consecutively 5 minutes a part for 1 hour. Needless to say it was a sleepless long night for both of us. We arrived at Brookwood Hospital around 5pm, and the slow processed continued. I was definitely "in labor" but obviously he was snug as a bug in utero. Finally after 34 total hours of labor, Ethan Mark Wolfe, entered this world at 9:15 am on Monday, June 13th 2011!!

Ethan was perfect with 10 fingers and toes, but had ingested some meconium during delivery. Because of that his breathing rate was not ideal and had to be admitted to the NICU for monitoring. Thankfully God's hand was on him and he progressed more and more each day. It was definitely hard on Chris and I not having him in the room with us, but we were able to visit him pretty much anytime and had the privilege of nursing him at each feeding. We were thrilled when the doctor released him and our family was able to go home on Friday!!

Yesterday, was his 1 week birthday and he is doing great. Eating, sleeping and getting his diaper changed regularly just like every other newborn:) It's amazing how quickly they develop a personality. We are quickly discerning what's a real cry and a fussy cry, but the best are all the precious facial expressions he gives us. He is cracking us up and doesn't even know it yet. Thank you to all of you who stood in prayer with us over this pregnancy and while Ethan was in the NICU. We give glory to the Lord for blessing us with such a wonderful and healthy son! God is good - ALL THE TIME!

Attached are a few pictures taken over the last week. Enjoy!

Wow

Every Wednesday night at our church there is a time for anyone to get out of their seat and go pray with one of the members of the church's Prayer Team. Last night I felt the nudge in my spirit for Carrie and I to go have someone pray for a speedy & healthy labor/delivery. So we did. While this person was praying for us, she said "And I feel the Lord telling me _________". I've inserted a blank there to maintain secrecy, but it represents one of the names that we have picked out. Of course, not knowing the baby's gender, we've picked out a boy and a girl name. This member of the prayer team does not know what we've chosen, yet she spoke one of those names last night. It could only be God. How cool is that!!!?? And now based on which name was spoken, we have a suspicion about the baby's gender. We'll let you know in a few days if that turns out to be correct.

PS. If you are one of the few to already know our choices of names, PLEASE do not post anything here to give it away. Thank you.

Counting the days...

Today we had our 38 week appointment. Things are progressing, but it looks like Baby Wolfe will be arriving closer to June 12th. It's taking it's sweet time, which is fine. We most definitely want it to be healthy and fully developed. With the heat increasing, the most I'm outside is to let Mattie out and check on the garden in the back yard after work, and believe it or not I've reached the point of freezing Chris out at night with the air conditioner. It's only on 71 or 72, but he wakes up "FREEZING":) Roles have definitely reversed, with body temperature, ha ha. Two weeks ago our precious friend, Ande Fanning, blessed us and took some sweet maternity photos of us, so we'd have some great memories to look back on. Attached are a few of our favorite shots. This blog only lets me post 5 pics, so I'll be posting more on Facebook. Oh and the little graphic at the top shows me at the front door of the house.. YIPPEE!!
