LA Baby!!

This week my hubs is in Los Angeles on his Dream Center mission trip. He flew out Sunday afternoon and is returning home Saturday. This is the longest we've been apart since we've been married. (sniff, sniff) They arrived in Los Angeles late Sunday night and then had to drive in 2 vans to the Dream Center facility. Unfortunately, one of the vans got lost on their destination, so bedtime ended up being close to 2:30am which was 4:30am B'ham time. Yikes! They had to be up by 6:30am Monday morning to get a hot shower, because the electricity was being turned off there from 8am-5pm that day. Needless to say Day 2 they all started off pretty tired. Thankfully, they had a low key day of a little sight-seeing because the Dream Center is closed on Mondays for outreach activities. When I talked to him later on Monday he said they had been to "Hollywood Blvd, he thought, you know the place w/ the stars on the sidewalk", then they visited the "Big Hollywood Sign", and while talking to him he said he was walking down some street called "Rodeo Drive, with all those fancy stores". I laughed out loud at how non-chalant he spoke of where he was considering most people, especially women, would have been oohhing and aahhing like crazy. Thank you Lord, my husband is humble and material possessions and prestige are nothing of which he desires!

Last night I spoke with him and I can't tell you how excited he was about what they had done that day. They got a tour of the Dream Center, then went out on a food truck to rough neighborhoods and delivered food to the needy and prayed with those that came for food. Chris said that most of the people in need are Latino and thankfully one of the team members on their trip speaks fluent Spanish and was able to pray with them in Spanish. It's so cool how God uses His kids to meet the needs of others at just the right time. After dinner, the men and women separately attended the weekly bible studies provided for people that live at the Dream Center recovering from addiciton. Chris was able to see how they do things and talk for a while with the bible study leaders. They provided good wisdom and suggestions of how he could incorporate things into the Dream Center men's small groups in Birmingham. He was so pumped on the phone and everything I asked about was "GREAT"! It was such a blesssing to hear the excitement in his voice and know without a doubt God's purpose was for him to be on this trip.

Please continue to keep Chris and the missions team in your prayers this week. Today or tomorrow they were supposed to be going to Skid Row, otherwise known as Heroine Alley to feed and minister to the homeless and drug addicts there. Pray that the Lord would protect them and give each team member wisdom. Pray that the hearts of the people they are ministring to would be open to receive the Gospel and most importantly the Love of Jesus.

I'll update you again soon!
